Community Clean-Up & Waste Management Program

The Clean & Safe Communities Initiative is Aiding Lives Initiative for the Vulnerable’s environmental health and behavior change program focused on promoting proper waste management, environmental responsibility, and cleaner living spaces in underserved communities.

In many slum, coastal, and hard-to-reach communities, poor waste disposal systems, open dumping, blocked drainages, and lack of environmental awareness expose residents to serious health and environmental risks. These conditions contribute to flooding, water contamination, disease outbreaks, and the degradation of livelihoods particularly for women and children.

In coastal communities, our clean-up exercises also address the growing challenge of marine litter and plastic pollution, which affect both environmental health and local livelihoods. By engaging women and young people in these activities, we strengthen community participation and environmental stewardship.

Through this initiative, ALIVE conducts community clean-up exercises and waste management education aimed at changing harmful environmental behaviors and fostering a culture of cleanliness, responsibility, and collective action.

We believe that a clean environment is a foundation for good health and human dignity. Our goal is not just to remove waste, but to influence long-term behavior change, empowering communities to take ownership of their surroundings and adopt sustainable waste management practices.
