Provision of eggs for children in slums, impoverished, underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
MALNUTRITION
An egg a day keeps malnutrition away. Malnutrition is a violation of a Child's Right to survival and development, nothing is more important to the development of a child than good nutrition.
According to UNICEF, Malnutrition is a direct or underlying cause of 45% of all deaths of under-five children. Nigeria has the second-highest burden of stunted children in the world with an estimated 2 million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) but only two out of every 10 children affected is currently reached with treatment.
We provide eggs for vulnerable children as well as increase community awareness of the nutritional benefits of eggs.
What we are doing...
The WHO estimates 149 million children under 5 are stunted, 45 million wasted and 38.9million obese. Around 45% of deaths among children under 5 are linked to undernutrition which mostly occur in low and middle-income countries. ALIVE is mobilising resources to invest in the provision of eggs for vulnerable children in disadvantaged communities.
